Once Upon A Time (2020)
is a pandemic fairy tale, another techspressionistic series.
These pieces place my New York City friends, photographed weekly
from late January to early March 2020,
into scenes I photographed around the world in the past.
The increasingly battered landscapes, and barriers between subjects and viewer,
emphasize the pandemic's isolating effect.
An earlier mashup with the same friends' photographs includes some of the empty painted background masks, for that pandemic vibe.
