The Fulton Opera House Foundation,
in Lancaster, Pa., hired me for a season as part-time public relations manager while I freelanced at Armstrong World Industries. I was privileged to share an office with my supervisor, the excellent Lettie Herbert*; and the playwright in residence, Barry Kornhauser.
After the theater season ended, I was hired as a full-time writer at Armstrong, which was like getting paid to attend graduate school for business writing....
* Lettie Herbert died of cancer in 2004. She was a smart, funny, lovely woman. She is greatly missed.
